Now in our 13th year of publication, we're proud to say that we've distributed over 750,000 magazines, and have reached over THREE MILLION readers!
The Compass Editorial Mission is to exchange good news about our community. Beneath the layers of headlines and sensationalism of the established media, we find people making a real difference in the quality of life for us all - good citizens working to make good things happen.
They do things that make a town a genuine "home". They volunteer their time to help the disadvantaged, they serve in our local government, and build businesses that create jobs and prosperity. At the home-town level, these individuals often make a bigger difference in our daily lives than the big headline stories, but rarely get exposure for their work. It's our mission to bring these good works to the forefront, with the hopes of gaining support for their efforts, and thereby building a stronger community spirit through awareness of each other.

Flowood is a small town with a big heart, big plans -- and big impact! While the city's residential population is barely 7,000, during business hours there are on average 30,000 people within the city limits. They're drawn to Flowood to work, shop, play, dine, and for easy, pleasant access to the best healthcare Mississippi and the southeast US have to offer.
Along with our city's bustling shopping scene and growing industrial community, Flowood is known as a center of cutting-edge medical treatment and care in Mississippi -- and that isn't by accident. All three of those strengths were planned by our first mayor, G. Chastaine Flynt, in the 1970s. It was his guidance, and the city's good credit, that convinced River Oaks and Woman's Hospitals to build here, beginning the growth that has led to a healthcare hub known throughout the state and beyond.
The Flowood Medicine and Wellness Magazine is an annual publication presented by the Flowood Compass, available for free to the public in countless locations throughout the city. It features in-depth articles on local services and providers, and information on current health issues. For information on being included in the next edition, whether through a feature article or advertising space, contact Rainey Scott at (601) 992-8009.
